Ancient underground cities

Lately, Wood Sprite has developed an interest in legendary places—especially the Lost City of Atlantis. While we’ve been exploring this interest together, we’ve run across some really amazing underwater cities that, while not Atlantis, are still amazing to see and learn about. Lion City of Qianado Lake, China: Look up photos of this lake and you’ll see a gorgeous lake, but no hint of a lost city. Google the city name, however, and you’ll see the 265 preserved ruins of this ancient city, which is 62 football fields big! Wood Sprite got a kick out of this city underwater. The Pyramids of Yonaguni: What I love the most about the Pyramids of Yonaguni in Japan is that nobody seems to know whether or not they are man-made or natural formations. This adds to the mysterious nature that surrounds stories like Atlantis, and like I keep telling Wood Sprite, anything is possible. New species of mammals have been discovered in recent years, and people used to believe that the giant squid was nothing more than pure fantasy, either. Either way, it’s always fun to speculate about these things and even create stories around them, too.
