But I thought eggs disappeared at 10:30!

McDonald's planning to offer breakfast all day

My world has been rocked. Everything I knew was a lie. McDonald's has announced plans to offer breakfast foods after 10:30AM. I know, right? Take a deep breath. Hopefully you are seated. If you are reading this on a smartphone while walking, please step to the side and lean against a wall until you regain your composure.

McDonald's has long claimed that its kitchens are too small to offer breakfast all day. They only have room to prepare so many things, you know? You can't make crappy cheeseburgers and crappy egg sandwiches in the same kitchen at the same time! That's madness! Why would you even ask?

But now, apparently in response to growing demand from Millennials (their prized demographic), McDonald's may recant this opinion.

Of course, places like Jack in the Box have been offering breakfast round the clock for years now. Are Jack in the Box kitchens really that much bigger than a McDonald's kitchen? I doubt it. And doesn't McDonald's probably have enough money to expand their kitchens if they really wanted to? I think so. (Heck, they just bolted on those McCafe expansions to hundreds of their stores last year.)

I snark, but let's get serious for a second: McDonald's hash browns and Egg McMuffins are diabolically delicious. I can't imagine the carnage that would be wreaked upon the American waistline if these calorie bombs were offered around the clock. Who could resist the temptation? Not me.

Actually I would be happier if they started offering burgers before 10:30AM. I used to work night shifts, and regularly stopped at McDonald's on the way home from work (at 6AM). You never really get used to eating Egg McMuffins for dinner. I would have paid extra to be able to order a cheeseburger at that hour.
