Patton Oswalt is the perfect human
I've been a Patton Oswalt fan for a long time now, and it seems he finds a new way to be awesome almost daily now. Earlier this week, when the nation was reeling in shock from the tragic Boston Marathon bombing, Oswalt posted a moving missive on his Facebook page, one that was shared more than 250,000 times and no doubt read by many more.
Now, just days after this beautifully stated post, Patton Oswalt has endeared himself to me forever and ever. Why? Because oh, he went on a crazy and amazing and awesome (and any other positive word you can think of) geek-fest of a filibuster in an outtake from NBC's Parks and Recreation episode, which aired on Thursday night. You might've seen the show, but you missed the greatest eight minutes I've ever seen.
The show told Oswalt to wing it, and that's precisely what he did. He was asked to "ramble," and what came out was an actual pitch for the plot of the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII movie. I keep trying to come up with a unique word to describe this, but "epic" is the only thing I can think of right now. My mind is blown, and this man has captured my heart.
Behold, the improvised Patton Oswalt filibuster scene outtake from Parks and Rec:

See? I bet you are going to watch it again, too, aren't you? There's no shame in that. I've seen it four times already. J.J. Abrams, take some notes, OK? I mean really, how hard would it be, really, to do some sort of huge crossover film with Avengers and X-Men and Clash of the Titans, right? Patton just makes it seem so...possible.
Everyone's intrigued, and someone at EW.com actually came up with a movie poster for "Oswalt's Episode VII."
Patton Oswalt is the perfect human. Anyone care to argue after seeing that? Hmm? The Force is clearly with him. Abrams had better give the man a cameo in his Star Wars movie. But please, do not behead Chewie.
