Paranormal Romance Pick of the Week: Fallen
When you think of paranormal romance, what first comes to mind? Werewolves torn apart by civil strife? Vampires desperate for some sense of humanity in an otherwise monstrous underworld? These are undoubtedly among the most popular subjects of the genre... but they aren't the only ones out there. Thanks to phenomenal authors like Lauren Kate, there are plenty of options out there for readers who want a little something different when they turn to that first page.
The first in a series of equally moving tales, Fallen tells the story of Luce, a young girl who's sent to live at Sword and Cross Reform School in Savannah, Georgia after she's accused of murder. Once there, Luce meets the gorgeous and intelligent Daniel, whom she believes she's met before. This feeling may be, of course, because she and Daniel are both fallen angels who have spent ages battling forces that are determined to keep them apart.
Unlike many adult PR novels, Fallen prioritizes heartfelt romance over gratuitous lust, delivering a truly moving story rife with haunting gothic fantasy. The characters are undeniably lovable and the grim stage upon which the tale is played will absolutely leave you wanting more. Which is lucky, because as soon as the book is finished, you can move immediately on to the next.
