Paranormal Romance Pick of the Week: A Werewolf in Manhattan

Every once in a while, even the most sophisticated of romance readers wants nothing more than to kick back with a simple romp between supernatural sheets. If you're on the hunt for a "just plain fun" paranormal romance read this week, I recommend picking up a copy of A Werewolf in Manhattan.

The first book in Vicki Lewis Thompson's Wild About You series, A Werewolf in Manhattan tells the story of Emma Gavin, a skeptical paranormal romance author whose fictional depictions of werewolves hit a little too close to home for a real pack of werewolves living in New York City. When the pack's alpha, Aidan Wallace, embarks on an investigation into Emma's “intimate” knowledge of his brethren, he discovers much more than he ever imagined.

Rife with wit and thoughtful character development, A Werewolf in Manhattan is a good old fashioned story of girl meets wolf in the most entertaining sense. One of my personal favorite aspects of the book is the likeability of both of the main characters, especially Aidan. This is a sub-genre easily muddled by insufferable leading men, after all, and Thomspon did a wonderful job of creating an alpha who doesn't make readers groan with disdain every time he enters a room.

All in all, this is a great read.
