Oh, the Horror!: Must-See Movies for February
Have you ever stolen a glance at your special someone... and wondered if they've been replaced by an alien? With Valentine's Day just around the corner, now more than ever is the perfect time to curl up close to the one you love and enjoy some classic “outer space” scares. Turn out the lights, hit play on one of these picks, and be sure to periodically pinch the person next to you to make sure they're still human.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
This eerie remake actually manages to surpass the original with its stellar cast and haunting score. When the residents of San Francisco begin acting cold and distant, a group of unaffected friends become convinced there's something sinister at play. Little do they know an alien race has arrived on earth and is slowly replicating them. Starring Donald Sutherland and Leonard Nimoy's sideburns, Invasion of the Body Snatchers is one of the scariest alien invasion films of all time.
The Faculty (1998)
The Faculty takes an old story to a new level by putting the fate of the world in the hands of six high school outcasts. When their teachers start acting even less human than usual, a small group of students begin to suspect something otherworldly has taken hold of them. When their fellow classmates fall prey to the changes, as well, it's up to them to solve the mystery and save the day. The Faculty stars a young Josh Hartnett and the most adorable teenage Elijah Wood ever.
