NBA streaks continue
Two NBA teams have recently continued their record-breaking win streaks in exciting fashion. To top it off, both teams were out and about on the road. Both teams are playoff bound and looking to make deep runs, even if one is the overall favorite. The Heat and the Nuggets statement-making wins kept their hot play alive.
For the Heat, the win against the Celtics in Mid-March was number 23 in a row. This win marks a NBA season-high streak, as well as a franchise high mark as well. The game itself was just as exciting as the streak. Down by as much as 17 points at one point, the Heat ended up scoring the last 22 of the game's final 29 points, rallying to win 105-103 in Boston.
The Heat had not had a regular season victory in Boston since 2007, but decided that game was the time to continue one trend and end another. James brought the Heat back into the game, and finished with a stat line of 37 points, 12 assists, seven rebounds, two blocks and two steals. James once again played like the NBA’s MVP.
While the game wasn't as hyped as the Heat-Celtics match-up, the Nuggets 119-118 overtime road victory over the Bulls marked a franchise record. After a three-pointer by Andre Iguodala put the Nuggets up with 7.1 seconds to go, the controversy started to hit. With less than two seconds on the clock, Marco Belinelli’s shot was grabbed mid-air by Joakim Noah and slammed in for a dunk.
The Nuggets immediately called a timeout. Before the game resumed, the officials had reviewed the Bulls' play and deemed the dunk goal tending. This gave the Nuggets the ball with less than two seconds left on the clock and the lead. Wilson Chandler led the Nuggets with 35 points, while Nate Robinson led the Bulls with 34.
