Modders crack into Halo Online

Microsoft is currently running a Russia-only free-to-play Halo 3-like game called Halo Online. PC gamers in the rest of the world have never been able to play Halo 3, and with no plans from Microsoft forthcoming to bring Halo 3 to PC, a lot of PC gamers were understandably annoyed that Halo Online is available only in Russia.

Unsurprisingly, the robust PC gaming modding community immediately went to work. The community has already released a hack which will let players anywhere play the game, although Microsoft is working hard to squelch the mod whenever it pops up.

Microsoft has released a statement which essentially positions the Russian release as a closed beta. Does this mean they plan to bring Halo Online to the rest of the world? We will have to wait and see!
