Last season, the Denver Broncos were poised to do big things. After securing the biggest free agent in NFL history, a team that struggled to go .500 the year before became instant Super Bowl contenders. After winning out their final 11 games, which gave them a first round buy, the Broncos looked like the team to beat in the playoffs. This, of course, changed when the Baltimore Ravens beat the Denver Broncos in the second round of the playoffs.
While many will remember John Fox having Peyton Manning take a knee with time left on the clock, as well as some other botched plays, the playoff loss will always been synonymous with Rahim Moore’s blown coverage. On a 3rd and long that should have been the end of the game, Moore lined up too shallow, allowing Jacoby Jones to blow by him and catch a 70-yard touchdown pass that let the Ravens back into the game. The second-year player blamed himself for the loss, and also caught the majority of the criticism from the fans and the sports community. Now, though, the Denver Broncos want the rest of the world to get on their page, and get over the devastating play.
According to defensive ace Von Miller, “Rahim made a few key tackles that day. He was all over the place. It was just a football folly.” Miller wasn't the only one backing Moore in the team’s first full practice since the loss. Head Coach John Fox satiated, “It’s a new season. We've moved on. The whole league has moved on. Everybody is 0-0 right now. So, what you did last year doesn't mean anything, good or bad.”
With chemistry like this, the Broncos are looking to come back strong in the 2013/14 season. Maybe with another year under Manning’s belt, as well as some new additions via free agency and the draft, the Broncos will have all the necessary pieces to become Super Bowl Champions.
