The first trailer for Hugh Jackman's 'Prisoners' debuts
With movie theaters currently packed to capacity, thanks to some mega-summer blockbusters, I wanted to take a moment or two to look ahead a bit. Will we get any solid thriller movies once the summer is over? If the new Hugh Jackman movie Prisoners is as fierce as the film's first trailer, then my answer is a big fat "yes."
Several years ago, there was some pretty major buzz surrounding the script for Prisoners. As in, this is possibly going to be an amazing film. Now it finally debuts in theaters on September 20, 2013. Here's the thing: This new trailer for Prisoners is really fairly long, and it certainly tells us a whole lot about the plot. Personally I'd go shorter, to tease us a little more, but what do I know?
Here's the official Prisoners trailer:
Prisoners Official Trailer #1 (2013) - Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal Movie HD
As you can clearly tell, this film looks totally raw and extremely powerful. When Hugh Jackman's young daughter and her friend are kidnapped, a detective arrests a suspect. Without any hard evidence, however, he's forced to let that suspect go. That's when Jackman goes bonkers (understandably so), taking matters into his own hands.
Prisoners features a wonderful cast, including the aforementioned Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Viola Davis, Paul Dano, Melissa Leo, Maria Bello and Terrance Howard. You cannot argue with that kind of ensemble's greatness. The film is directed by Incendies' Denis Villeneuve, too. A great cast and a talented Canadian director? Yes, please.
Just based on the acting demonstrated in the trailer alone, I suspect that Prisoners will be a fantastic thriller film. Truthfully, I haven't seen a great thriller in quite a while, and once the summer superhero films are all wrapped up, I'll probably be craving one.
What do you think? Does this new Prisoners movie trailer make you want to see the film? If the reviews are solid, could it be a September hit?
