Bet you'll never guess.

Quick: Who is the actor in this new movie still?

At long last, we've got our first look at the upcoming and highly-anticipated drama movie Foxcatcher, directed by none other than Bennett Miller (Capote, one of my favorite films ever, and 2011's Moneyball). See this newly released, exclusive Entertainment Weekly photo? Who do you think this is? It's none other than...Steve Carell, in a role that will no doubt take his usual comedic on screen presence in an entirely different direction. This one is going to be seriously dark, and I am really looking forward to seeing Foxcatcher when it's released in December.

Here's the premise behind Foxcatcher: It's based on the real life story of multimillionaire John du Pont, member of the esteemed Du Point family and, in his later years, the owner of the Foxcatcher Farm wrestling facility. Lots of big names came to Foxcatcher to train, and du Pont was an avid supporter of USA Wrestling. Then, in the 90s, his mental faculties began to decline and he was accused in the shooting death of a close friend. That friend, Dave Schultz, a former Olympian, was gunned down in du Pont's driveway and several people saw it all happen. du Point was convicted of murder.

In Foxcatcher, Steve Carell is John du Point, Mark Ruffalo is Dave Schultz and Channing Tatum is his brother, Mark Schultz, also a well known wrestler.

I can't wait to see how Foxcatcher shakes out. Yes, I've seen Steve Carell in some drama work, but nothing that even comes close to this. In debuting the photo, EW.com also interviewed director Bennett Miller, who notes, "Comedians are dark, but I think we tend to think of them along the lines of what they project. I just think there’s a hell of a lot more to Steve than he tends to show." I couldn't agree more, and I think everyone is going to be shocked when they see just how talented a dramatic actor Steve Carell really is.

I, for one, will be first in line when this movie comes out on December 20. Could we begin hearing Steve Carell's name as a possible Academy Award contender?
