Pixar announces huge news: A 'Finding Nemo' sequel is coming!
As I sit here recovering from a particularly painful dental surgery, I absolutely think the pain meds I'm on are making me hallucinate. Either that, or there really is a sequel coming to Pixar's mega-hit, Finding Nemo. Say it's true, please!
OK, I checked: It's happening. It isn't the Lortab. Disney Pixar is indeed planning the Nemo sequel, entitled Finding Dory, though we'll have to wait a few more years to see it. At the moment, the film is tentatively set to come out in November of 2015. I'm grinning from ear to ear right now (even though it kind of hurts to do it at the moment).
Finding Nemo is probably my favorite Pixar movie (tied with Up and WALL-E), and I've long hoped for a sequel. To hear that Finding Dory is not only bringing back some of my favorite characters (including Dory, the blue tang voiced by Ellen DeGeneres), but that it's also going to be directed by Andrew Stanton (Nemo's brilliant director) -- well, I'm over the moon.
Ellen DeGeneres, by the way, is also over the moon. She's wanted this for a very, very long time. And Ellen actually got to make the big announcement on her show, complete with background clips that prove she's been lobbying for a Nemo sequel for ages.
Here's what we know about Finding Dory at the moment: The film will be out on November 25, 2015, and it will be set on the California coast (not Australia, like Nemo). New characters will be introduced, but Nemo, Marlin and of course, Dory, will all be back.
Excited yet? Pixar has a long history of successful sequels. The only Pixar sequel I didn't really like was Cars 2, and that's probably because I wasn't entirely crazy about the original Cars, either. I'm not one to jump on a sequel bandwagon, but with Pixar, I will. Gladly. This is so exciting! Between this and Monsters U, I swear I'm totally set now as far as new animated films to look forward to.
2015 promises to be an epic year at the movies, with the next Avengers due out, and the new Star Wars, too.
OK Pixar fans: Do we think Finding Dory will be as awesome as Finding Nemo?
