New trailer alert: ‘Maleficent’
Angelina Jolie spreads her wings, quite literally, in the newest trailer for the upcoming Disney movie Maleficent. To say this film is highly anticipated would be an understatement. I’ve already spoken of my love/hate/fear of this character from childhood – and my excitement at seeing the back story of this complicated woman now. And others here, including the wonderful Sara, have blogged about their excitement as well. In short: If you’re more than a little obsessed with the Maleficent movie, that’s totally normal. We all are.
I could go on and on about my own excitement, but I’ll hush and give you the link to the new Maleficent trailer:
Disney's Maleficent - Trailer 3
For those of you who remember Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty, are you as pumped as I am at finally getting a look at her in dragon form? And look at her, mistreating those fairies so badly! And don’t even get me started on those wings Maleficent is sporting. She really does look like some sort of fallen angel, doesn’t she?
If any of us had any doubts that Angelina Jolie was perfect for this role – we don’t anymore. Honestly, she’s nailed the voice, the mannerisms, the whole shebang as far as I’m concerned. As Maleficent, I fully expect Jolie to kick butt and take names (and it’s quite clear she does so based on this latest trailer).
One other thing, and it’s something I didn’t know until now: The script for Maleficent was written by none other than Linda Woolverton. If that name doesn’t ring a bell, it should – especially if you’re a Disney movie fan. Woolverton wrote the screenplays for both Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King. Oh, and she also wrote the screenplay for Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland (which I heart).
Fellow fans, based on this latest trailer, I’m even more sure than ever that we have a LOT to look forward to in Maleficent when it finally comes out on May 30.
