Netflix Memorial Day weekend viewing ideas
If you are not a huge Arrested Development fan, and you have no plans to spend your Memorial Day holiday binging on the goodness that is the Bluth family, don't despair: You've got options with your Netflix viewing, and plenty of them. I tend to jump back and forth between Netflix movies and TV shows, but this weekend, I'm catching up with some solid streaming film offerings.
If you're looking to watch a classic film, I'd highly recommend Roman Polanski's masterful Chinatown. This is one of my favorite films ever in any genre, and for film noir, it's an excellent choice. I just re-watched this one again last night and I never, ever get tired of it.
If classics aren't your thing, how about some comedy? The Dictator, starring the sometimes offensive but always hilarious Sacha Baron Cohen is streaming on Netflix right now. I actually found this movie hilarious, and I'm not a huge fan of the Borat movies, for what that's worth. This one, however, is most certainly not for the youngsters. The Dictator is rated R and with very good reason. Put the kids to bed and kick back for some late-night funnies.
Another possible comedy option is Dax Shepard's Hit & Run, co-starring his sweetie, the incredibly brilliant and always refreshing Kristen Bell. I haven't seen Hit & Run yet, but I've got it in queue for this long weekend. If you've seen it, I'd love to know what you thought.
Are you a horror film fan? I can definitely recommend The Cabin in the Woods as a Netflix streaming option right now. It's a conventional unconventional horror movie from Drew Goddard. It's clever, and the cast is pretty darn solid. There's a reason the reviews for Cabin in the Woods were so good (but I won't spoil this movie for you, I promise, just see it).
Can anyone else recommend some good Netflix movie streaming options? I'd love to hear them.
