Universal signs a replacement for Charlie Hunnam in the 'Fifty Shades of Grey' movie.

Meet the new Christian Grey

You know those stories you really wish would just go away? The ones you try to ignore, but you can't because, well, they're just too crazy to ignore? That's how I feel about anything related to the Fifty Shades of Grey movie adaptation. First of all, I think the whole idea of adapting the erotic novels to film is a terrible idea. And secondly, the books are junk, plain and simple. I'm not talking about the subject matter either - I'm talking about the fact that they are poorly written.

Still, here we are, and I do have some pretty major news surrounding the never-ending casting drama of the Fifty Shades film. And I have to give major props to my fellow blogger, Jason M. for calling it via the comments in my Fifty Shades blog post last week: Jamie Dornan is the new Christian Grey. Who? I hadn't heard of him either, but he did star in the first season of ABC's Once Upon a Time as Sherriff Graham Humbert, aka The Huntsman, and he's a former Calvin Klein model. Oh, and he also stars on a BBC show called The Fall. It's on Netflix (yes, I checked). It seems this Irish actor is more than qualified to play the kinky billionaire in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie.

Charlie Hunnam, you dodged a bullet, sir. Just days ago, I wondered whether reports that the Sons of Anarchy star left the project because of scheduling problems were true. Now, The Hollywood Reporter reveals there were other big problems brewing: Hunnam wasn't thrilled with the screenwriter's Fifty Shades of Grey adaptation. He made some notes (he's apparently a writer too) and then wanted a lot more control over the script. Universal balked, and Charlie walked. Given what's at stake (mega money and possibly the death of his acting career), I can't blame Hunnam for walking away. Good for him.

As for Jamie Dornan, you might not know him now, but you sure will soon enough. The Fifty Shades of Grey movie is set to start production on November 1, with a tentative release date of August 1, 2014. In the meantime, People magazine was kind enough to include several photos of Dornan that support his casting in this film.

Now, here's the part where I ask you guys what you think about this latest Fifty Shades movie casting news: Good? Bad? Please never speak of any of this again Laurie?
