Great new trailers: 'The Monuments Men'
I know we're still technically in the summer movie season here, but I can't stop thinking about some of the great trailers for upcoming movies I've seen recently. Bear with me, because I can't possibly rehash all of them - but I will if they look particularly intriguing. And the new trailer for The Monuments Men is most definitely intriguing.
Here is a bit of the backstroy behind The Monuments Men: The World War II drama is based on the 2009 book The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History by Robert M. Edsel. The book is based on the true story of a group of men who raced to save some of Europe's most precious works of art - even as Adolf Hitler and the Nazi's were trying to take them, with the ultimate goal of destroying them. These men were, for the most part, not trained soldiers: They were museum curators and historians who literally got behind enemy lines to save the artwork.
Intrigued? Here is the trailer for George Clooney's The Monuments Men:
The Monuments Men - Official Trailer (2013) [HD] George Clooney, Matt Damon
I have no doubt that The Monuments Men is going to be a great film. The subject matter (to me) is truly fascinating, the cast of this film is first-rate (George Clooney, Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett, Bill Murray, Jean Dujardin and John Goodman) and Clooney has never let me down, whether it's as a director or as an actor. Okay, there's Batman, but I'm tired of talking about Batman this week. I am really excited about seeing this film about these brave men who risked everything to save art and art objects from damage and looting by the Nazis.
For now, we'll have to make due with this first trailer, because The Monuments Men doesn't open in theaters until December of 2013. What do you guys think? Is this a must see?
