See Benedict Cumberbatch as Julian Assange

Great movie trailers: 'The Fifth Estate'

I realize that everyone's still very focused on the new movies that are coming out this summer, but allow me to give you a preview for a movie that I'm really, really excited to see: The Fifth Estate. The first trailer for The Fifth Estate is out, and it's well worth your time.

In The Fifth Estate, Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. Let me just say right here and now that I believe Cumberbatch is one of the best actors working today. Anything he does is fantastic, whether it's a starring role or a smaller part. To be honest, I'd forgotten than plans were in the works for this Wikileaks movie, but I'm so glad it's coming to the big screen.

Without any further build up (it's really not needed, is it?), here is the first trailer for The Fifth Estate:

THE FIFTH ESTATE Official Trailer

Again, I can't say enough about Benedict Cumberbatch. I'm a die-hard Sherlock fan and I loved his role as - well, the bad guy in Star Trek: Into Darkness (I remain, as ever, spoiler-free). I had no doubt Cumberbatch would approach his role as Julian Assange with gusto. And how about the rest of the cast: Laura Linney, Stanley Tucci and Anthony Mackie are all first-rate actors, too.

The Fifth Estate is directed by Bill Condon. It is set for release in the U.S. on October 18, 2013. I, for one, will be in line to see this thriller, which seeks to reveal what really happened behind the scenes when Julian Assange disclosed his secrets.

I wasn't entirely sure what direction The Fifth Estate would take in terms of the Wikileaks situation, but I agree that it does look, at least on the surface, to favor Julian Assange. Condon says that's not the case, that the idea is "to present who he is and let you make up your mind." We'll see.

What do you guys think about the trailer, and the movie in general?
