Catching up with 'The Wolf of Wall Street'
At long last, those of us wondering if and when Martin Scorsese's latest effort, The Wolf of Wall Street, would hit theaters have our answer. And it's good news: The movie will get a Christmas Day release. Considering that just weeks ago, the status of a 2013 release was in question, this is terrific.
Back in late-September, reports suggested that director Scorsese needed a lot of time to cut the film down from its 180 minutes, and that it was entirely possible the film wouldn't be ready until early 2014. That's not an ideal time to release any film, much less one with high Oscar hopes. The hope at that point was that Scorsese, arguably the best working director today and one of the greatest of all time, would be able to make the necessary edits in time to get The Wolf of Wall Street out in late 2013. The original release date was November 15, but it was clear that wasn't going to happen.
The new goal was Christmas, and apparently they hit it, because the green light is on. We'll get to see this film, starring Leonardo DiCaprio as questionable former Wall Street broker Jordan Belfort, over the holidays - all 165 minutes of it. The end of year film season promises to be a stellar one, packed with potential Academy Award nominees, and I was sorely disappointed at the thought of not finally seeing The Wolf of Wall Street in 2013.
Back in June, I went just slightly nuts over the first official trailer for the movie, and now, we have another. Just in case you thought I wasn't going to mention the rest of the cast, oh I'm happy to: Matthew McConaughey (who can't make a bad movie right now), Jonah Hill, Jon Bernthal, Jon Favreau and Margot Robbie, all star alongside Lovely Leo.
Here is the newest trailer for The Wolf of Wall Street - enjoy!

I don't know about you guys, but I know exactly what I'll be doing on Christmas night, after all the gifts are open and the food consumed: I'll be planted front and center to let Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio entertain me in a way only they can. The holidays can't get here soon enough!
