League of Legends kills off a champion

Gangplank, a pirate character in League of Legends, has been officially killed. He has been removed from play, and his official lore is that he is dead. A shocking development to be sure, particularly in the MOBA to end all MOBAs, where players grow quite attached to their favorite legends.

Gangplank's unprecedented death comes at the end of the Bilgewater event, which has been running for the past two weeks.

But not to worry, Riot Games has already dropped a few hints that Gangplank may return - as a ghost. (A p-p-p-pirate ghost!)
