Video: Elephant paints calligraphy for the new year

This week an Indian elephant named Ryuka who lives at the Okinawa Zoo tried her hand – um, trunk – at a beginner’s form of calligraphy called kakizome. She painted the Chinese zodiac sign of the Horse, in honor of this year’s animal. The zoo’s two horses “signed” the works with hoof stamps, and the prints will be sold to benefit the zoo.

I gotta say, that elephant has a steadier hand – um, trunk – than I do.
