What's in, what's out!

Update on American drug trends

A new national study recently released shows that meth usage is down - way down - from its peak, which is good news. The number of meth users fell to 440,000 down from a national high (heh) of 731,000 in 2006.

However, drug usage overall has doubled among Baby Boomers (age 50 to 64) maybe because they are old now and don't give a hoot. Heroin usage is also up across the board, almost doubling from 2007 to 2012. In other sad news, binge drinking is on the rise, with 1 in 5 people reporting an episode of binge drinking in the last month (defined as having five or more drinks in one day).

Marijuana (long the most popular illegal drug in America) continues to rise in popularity.

On the up side, teen tobacco use has dropped by almost half. Go, teens!
