Turns out, Waldo's not hiding as well as he thought. A mathematician, upon learning that the author of the Where's Waldo series decides where to place Waldo by gut instinct, had an instinct himself: that the placement was not actually random. Humans are, after all, almost incapable of producing truly random information.
Ben Blatt sat down in a bookstore for three hours with the entire Where's Waldo series and a tape measure, and he found that more than half the time, Waldo can be found in one of two zones across the page. Read the Slate article for more details, and wow your family at your newfound "finding Waldo" skills! (I won't tell!)
