Animal rights activists to blame

State fair's butter cow "desecrated"

A group calling itself Iowans for Animal Liberation is taking credit for the "desecration" of the butter cow at the Iowa State Fair. Overnight, the butter cow was doused with red paint as a protest against the "11 billion animals murdered each year."

The butter cow is a beloved fixture of the Iowa State Fair. Luckily for butter lovers everywhere, the fair was able to call in the butter cow's sculptor, who was able to clean up and repair the cow, which is back on display.
