PostSecret body dump: Hoax or confession?
PostSecret recently published a postcard that said "I told everyone that she dumped me, but I dumped her (body)." The accompanying image was from Google Maps. Some internet sleuths quickly tracked down the location to an area of Chicago. Although the postcard was mailed in 2008, people tipped off the police, who searched the area and found no physical evidence.
The creator of PostSecret maintains that he has no responsiblity with regards to the secrets which are mailed to him, and that it's a free speech issue. He furthermore added that publishing this particular confession would help heighten awareness of domestic abuse. (An issue we are already well aware of, thanks.)
Opinion online seems to be divided between "It's a hoax" and "He should have told the police five years ago when he received the postcard." Either way: ugh.
