It only took 69 years!

Pitch drop finally caught on camera

For almost 70 years, scientists at Trinity College have been monitoring a blob of pitch as it fell - oh so slowly - into a test tube. Pitch is a seemingly solid substance, but it actually flows like liquid, just very slowly. The pitch has only dropped eight times since the experiment began, and never on camera - until now. Finally the pitch drop was caught on film for posterity. Huzzah!
