Part 1 in a 4-part series walks us through the first few episodes

Outstanding Hannibal article interview with Bryan Fuller

New and old Hannibal fans alike will find a lot to savor in this new series of articles at The A.V. Club in which Hannibal showrunner and creator Bryan Fuller walks us through the first few episodes. Having recently watched the newer movie version of Red Dragon and Hannibal - both of which were just awful - I find myself appreciating Hannibal the TV series even more.

Fuller is also being really awesome with the Hannibal fandom, such as embracing the Tumblr "flower crown" meme wholeheartedly. Fuller has also gone on record as saying he draws the line at depicting rape in his show, and that he always strives to maintain a gender balance with the corpses. In stark contrast to most other serial killer and police procedural shows, which sexualize violence to a terrible extent.

It turns out that everything I love about Hannibal, from the depth of the characters to the cinematography, is all thanks to Bryan Fuller. Funny; I've never had a crush on a showrunner before.
