An interesting Moscow chain has come to London: the Ziferblat is a café which charges you by the minute, but food and beverages are free. It’s 3p per minute, the equivalent of $3.70 USD per hour. In other words, about the cost of a latte per hour, but you don’t have to eat or drink anything if you don’t want.
I love this idea – there are many times I’ll go to a Starbucks and order a coffee I don’t really want, just because I need a place with tables and wifi for a while. And if you’re paying by the minute, you wouldn’t feel guilty about nursing a cheap Americano for an absurdly long time, just so you can get your work done.
