As of iOS 7 on Apple devices, and the most recent iTunes update on PCs, iTunes users found themselves presented with iTunes Radio. ITunes has done streaming in the past, and it has done it quite poorly. The former incarnation of Radio was a collection of music streams sorted by genre, half of which were broken at any given time.
The new iTunes Radio is basically a Pandora-killer. It may not work quite as well as Pandora (it's run off the Genius algorythm, not the Music Genome Project). But it's now pre-installed on about a billion devices, and it doesn't play ads. Ouch.
