Turns out Jay-Z was right on the money

Hype vs reality: What rap stars are really worth

In a song off his new album, Jay-Z mocks his fellow rap artists for inflating their annual incomes. Bloomberg Businessweek was intrigued by this claim, and set out to research reality versus what rap artists claim in their songs. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Jay-Z turned out to be entirely correct.

Businessweek laid out the data in a clever chart showing the differential between what the artist claimed and what they actually earned. For example, in one song Nicki Minaj claimed to be worth "a billi," when in reality she earned only $15.5 million.
