Historical psychiatry: The glass delusion

In Europe in the late Middle Ages (15^th to 17^th century), some people fell prey to the specific delusion that their bodies were literally made of glass. In fact, King Charles VI of France suffered from the glass delusion, and wore special reinforced clothing to keep himself from shattering.
