Talk about "unintended consequences." NBC's popular show Hannibal caught fire on Tumblr, amassing a huge fandom in just a few short months. But when the season ended, Hannibal fans found themselves with a weirdly-shaped hole in their lives. Many fans turned their attention to the Welcome to Night Vale podcast, and soon Hannibal fans became the primary vector for Night Vale fandom.
I have been watching this development with glee, having been a Night Vale fan for many months. Not to be all "I liked it before it was cool," but I first heard about Night Vale when a friend retweeted one of the wonderful, amazing, and sublimely bizarre Night Vale tweets.
If you have any interest in a podcast that can be described as "Twin Peaks meets Prairie Home Companion," then I urge you to check it out. Night Vale deserves more fans!
