Calling "dibs" on a parking space

I did not know this, but the city of Chicago holds holy the tradition of “dibs” on parking spaces during winter snowstorms. After spending an hour to dig out your parking space on the street, you don’t want to give it up, so you put a cheap chair there to show everyone that you called dibs.
