A research team recently combed through three years worth of Billboard's top hits and created a list of all the alcohol brands mentioned, then ranked them by prevalence. To no one's surprise, the choices turned out to be pretty conventional. The most commonly-mentioned brands of booze were:
- Patron tequila
- Hennessy cognac
- Grey Goose vodka
- Jack Daniel's whiskey
This Slate columnist makes an interesting point that these are all overpriced brands with more cachet than value as beverages, and that there are a lot of other brands that both taste better and cost less. Pop stars = idiots. Who could have guessed?
