"men look just fine the way they are, but we women are encouraged to believe we don’t look good enough unless we “fix” our faces."
A defense of not wearing makeup

This New York Times article is an interesting read, offering a spirited defense by a 58 year-old woman who refuses to wear makeup. She argues that she doesn't need to "fix my face" because it's not broken, and that men have no such commitment to the time and money involved in maintaining makeup throughout the course of a day.
Personally I'm in the "minimal" camp. I wear a low-key lipstick when I leave the house, and that's it. But if other women want to go either makeup-free or the whole nine yards, I support their decision either way.
