Hideo Kojima is leaving Konami

Hideo Kojima, the visionary developer behind the Metal Gear Solid series, has officially left Konami. Although Konami has announced future Metal Gear games, Kojima will not be a part of their development process.

The title which is currently in development, Metal Gear Solid V, will continue to be shepherded along by Kojima, who will be involved in the game from start to finish. But after the game ships, Kojima will apparently be parting ways from the studio which made him an icon.

Although Konami and Kojima have not yet officially split, the company is making it clear that Kojima will not be around after the end of this current project. No word yet on what caused the split, or what Kojima will be working on next, post-Konami.
