Four quarterbacks is too many
Wait, what is that you say? It is that time of year again? That time of year where we start to talk about the most unaccomplished quarterback in football history to get this much attention? Yes, I guess that is what you're saying. My friends, it is once again Tim Tebow time.
While the Tim Tebow talk was definitely much more positive during his days in an orange and blue uniform, the banter surrounding the polarizing player has yet to subside since he took over the starting job in Denver two seasons ago. After a rough year playing for a tumultuous team in New York, Tim Tebow is once again looking to find a new home.
According to sources, Tim Tebow has been officially released from the New York Jets. The news was made official via press release by the Jets brass on Monday. According to mercurial coach Rex Ryan, “We have a great deal of respect for Tim Tebow. Unfortunately, this did not work out the way we all had hoped.” The Jets, after failing to reach the playoffs last season, drafted quarterback Geno Smith in the second round, as well as signed veteran David Gerrard this off-season.
The question that remains is whether or not Tebow will be picked up again to play quarterback in the National Football League. While no teams have started to generate interest, the Jacksonville Jaguars' new General Manger Dave Caldwell has made it clear he isn't going to find a spot in his hometown.
Though his throwing coaches have said Tebow looks like a completely different player from a year ago, no American teams are ready to take a bite yet. The Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League have showed interest in taking on Tebow, but he would still have to battle it out with current quarterback Anthony Calvillo for the starting spot.
