Sony’s enigmatic announcement of the PlayStation 4.

Foaming at the mouth

It’s funny to start having moments that make me think I’m old while I’m smack-dab in the middle of my 20s. Yet, having been super stoked for the unveiling of the Super Nintendo as well as each subsequent system since then, the idea of getting pumped up for the upcoming PlayStation 4 only brings back memories of a gaming past. While I still remember the first time I played Resident Evil on the original PlayStation (those zombie dogs jumping through the window still haunt my dreams!), it looks like it’s time to go out with the old, and in with the new.

This past week, Sony unveiled the…well, Sony basically let the world know that they are contemplating, and apparently creating, the PlayStation 4. While they were able to show the world pictures of the new system’s controller, the company did not show off any prototype of the system, and were unable to give any set release date or firm price on how much the new system will cost. While gamers were excited about the new release, apparently the system itself hasn't yet been finished.  Sony is not entirely sure about all of the aspects of the new systems future.

For those interested in the specifics of the system, the Australian Herald does a great take on the announced specs here. While Sony has kept a lot to the imagination of fans, they have been pretty open about upcoming games. Killzone: Shadow Fall is one of the first titles that will be released on the system. While the game is a simple first-person shooter, the graphics, cityscape imaging and the ability to hop into aerial vehicles is a real treat for gamers. For fans of RPGs, Sony has promised a new Final Fantasy title after release.

Stay tuned for more updated information on the newest system to take the gaming world by storm.
