Whoops! Maybe he should have waited until he got home to have his sexy alone time?

Chinese Technician Arrested for Broadcasting Porn on Billboard

It’s not often that I get to report on something that has a note of humor to it, so when I came across this latest bit of controversy in China, I just had to grab it up.  In a country that loves its censorship, pornography isn’t the most widely respected of media genres.  In fact, there was even a bit of a stink earlier this year when a former soft-core actress decided to get patriotic and start attending Communist party meetings.  But this last week, the porn got super-sized when one technician accidently broadcast a racy film across a giant public monitor.

The man, Yuan Mou is a repairman by trade.  His job for the day was to fix an LED screen that happened to be located in a main railway station.  When he was all done with work, he decided to kick back and watch a dirty movie on his laptop, The Forbidden Legend: Sex and Chopsticks.  Unfortunately, his laptop was still plugged into the monitor.  The result - the film played to the public for ten minutes before the people that owned the screen finally gave Mou a call and told him what was happening.

Naturally, people flooded Sina Weibo (the Chinese Twitter) with pictures of the fiasco and their own opinions on the matter.  Many of them were pretty good natured about the incident, feeling sorry for a guy that was just trying to unwind.  Others even suggested that they should make it a point to broadcast porn more often.  None of these opinions managed to keep Mou from getting arrested, however.

There’s no word on just how bad the guy will suffer for his mistake, though I’m guessing he won’t be working at that job anymore.  Hopefully, he doesn’t get serious jail time, although with China’s “love” of free expression, it’s not likely he’ll get off with just a slap on the wrist.
