If only Hollywood had said "April Fool!" after they announced these stinkers.

"Comedies" in name only

Sly Stallone admitted in a 2010 newspaper interview he made some "truly awful" movies.  The so-called "action/comedy" he starred in called Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot was the worst in his estimation. He was even harder on the movie in this online Q&A session. It is not hard to see why. From start to finish, Stop! is about as funny as a heart attack.

In the movie, Stallone plays a cop whose mom comes to visit him. Soon she is embarrassing him left and right. She tells the passengers (and crew!) of the flight she is on all about him. This leads to an endless parade of smirking, or otherwise laughing passengers as they parade past Sly while he waits at the terminal gate. Ha ha, very funny. Too bad John Rambo wasn't waiting for a flight himself, and had been having a very bad day. Those people would have been decked in five seconds flat.

But things get even more aggravating plot-wise. First, his mom proceeds to again publicly embarrass him by sharing baby pictures of him, while he is trying to talk a jumper off a ledge! Then his mom washes his automatic without his knowing. This means he can't use it and has to borrow a piece at the station. But before that, she feeds him a massive breakfast that gives him heartburn. Then at the station, his mom goes into her baby picture routine again.

Everyone is sweet toward mom but hard on Sly, wishing he would lighten up about her. Real original here, Hollywood! No wonder Stallone proclaimed it his worst. He even said this gem about it: "If you ever want someone to confess to murder just make him or her sit through  that film. They will confess to anything after 15 minutes.” This writer's estimation is even less: It's after watching ten minutes of that movie you would confess! Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot sure isn't Tango & Cash.

It's too bad you can't sue Hollywood for insulting your intelligence.  Unfortunately, unfunny comedies have become quite a Hollywood staple recently. Me, Myself, and Irene, anyone? How about the 2003 remake of The In-Laws, or Hollywood Homicide? Anybody have any other unfunny comedies they can add to this diss list?
