Bungie nerfs every single Destiny gun

In a frankly unprecedented move, the next patch for Destiny will include nerfs to every single weapon in the game. Some weapons have even been called out for extra nerfing and tweaking, and the patch notes (which are surprisingly entertaining to read) have an interesting look at why.

For example, the Gjallerhorn was as powerful as the designers intended. However, "What we did not intend, and what we unfortunately saw, was pick up Raid and Nightfall groups gating participation based on whether or not players had this weapon."

The gun was so powerful that people began demanding that party members could only join if they had one. This made the devs mad, so they scaled back the overpowered gun. Long story short: This is why we can't have nice things!
