Angry Birds 2 downloaded 1 million times in 12 hours

The hotly anticipated sequel to Rovio's smash hit Angry Birds was released this week, and Angry Birds fans jumped on it, downloading the game 1 million times in the first 12 hours. Cumulatively, players have spent a total of 1 million years playing the series since it launched in December of 2009.

Rovio expected the sequel to be a smash, but the results exceeded their wildest expectations. Reviews of the game have been mixed, with some people complaining that its freemium "Hey, why not pay money for some stuff?" presentation is a little too intrusive. Others are just happy to have more birds to fling at mean pigges!
