All good things come to an end
Ah yes, it has come to this. After maybe days, weeks or even possibly months, your travel romance has come to an end. Although you have grown quite fond of one another, the real world is calling one of you back. Maybe it’s finances, or maybe it was just time to pack up the old bag and go home. The fact is, it’s over. Either way, you still have a few numbered, waning moments with one another and you want to spend them correctly. Here are the best ways to say goodbye.
The “Lip-locked let go” – Maybe you are at the airport, the bus station, or even something crazy like the wharf. You see the vessel coming to take your love away and though hatred for said travel medium is abundant, all you can see are your lover’s eyes and lips. You two ostentatiously embrace until the last second. Lips locked, the captain of said vessel has to come tear your love away from you, while onlookers vom and yell that you are slowing up their travel.
The “Too cool school” – So what that you two have been traveling together for months and are completely enamored with each other. No one needs to know this, and no one needs to see you losing your cool and crying over someone. You are ultra composed all the time. To keep this façade up, you and your love shake hands, maybe pound it and do a hip-hop hug before heading your separate ways.
The “Leaving out the window”- Goodbyes suck. Do you really want to be a clichéd scene from a sappy romance movie? Hell no! That’s why you are gonna sneak out of the room the night before and never have to face that horrible scenario you can only equate to your seventh layer of hell. Good riddance.
The “I’m actually gonna skip my flight and stay and things will work out”- The preferred method of goodbye for hopeless romantics and movie buffs alike. This goodbye is actually not a goodbye at all. In fact, it’s a leap of faith into a completely new way of life wherein you and your partner decide to stay together, disregard any and all commitments back home and try to make things work in la la land. Good luck!
