No longer class action
Aliens: Colonial Marines lawsuit downgraded
The lawsuit against Aliens: Colonial Marines has been downgraded from a class action lawsuit. At the heart of the suit is a claimed discrepancy between what was shown of the game at trade shows before launch (including trailers and gameplay demos) versus what actually was in the game when it was released.
It's not uncommon for a game to look suspiciously better during pre-release marketing demos. Framerates are adjusted, and in a lot of ways the pre-release demo is a very carefully groomed simulacrum of the game that will actually be released.
However, in the case of Aliens: Colonial Marines, the difference between the pre-release and post-release games was so shockingly huge that people decided to sue.
