Cutting edge publishing industry news, tools, and startups.

Publishing as an industry is changing rapidly. Every day there is a new startup, a new online service, or a new piece of industry news that changes the landscape. These innovations are changing the way that books are published, the way we read books, and the very concept of what makes a book in the first place.

My goal with this blog is to explore the startups, tools, and overall industry innovations that will define and create the next generation of books.

Throughout the history of publishing there have been a few major turning points. In 1439, Johannes Güttenberg began using moveable type, making it possible to reproduce books for the first time. Throughout the 1800s a number of printing innovations, including the steam-powered printing press, made printing moveable type considerably faster. From these, modern book printing grew.

We are in the middle of a third major publishing revolution that is happening through online and digital tools. This revolutionary shift means that publishing on a large scale is something that anyone with an idea and a computer can do.

This blog covers the explosive changes throughout the publishing, including industry innovations, publishing startups, social media around books, coding as part of digital publishing and digital publishing outlets.
