Where are all the vegetarians?

As popular as the “vegetarian lifestyle,” as it’s often called, is becoming, and as important as a sustainable world is for us to attain for our own very survival, you would think that there would be several vegetarian cooking shows. Not only that, but that all of the mainstream shows would also start offering up more ways to eat locally, with a smaller eco footprint, and definitely meatlessly—at least on several episodes a week.

Angelina Jolie Doing Good

Angelina Jolie, in her role as a United Nation's Goodwill Ambassador, visited the flood areas of Pakistan, yesterday, Tuesday. The UN hopes that Ms. Jolie will draw attention to long-term needs of flood-hit victims in Pakistan, and will help spur the international community to continue to send aid to that country.

France 24News reports that "The floods that hit Pakistan at the end of July have caused the worst natural disaster in the countries history. They continue to blanket a fifth of the country and and mass homelessness, disease and potential short term food shortages are still major causes for concern." See the videos.

Spreading goodwill is something that Ms. Jolie does well . She has a history of helping out, of going into areas of natural disasters, where the people need the aid of the international community , and of pitching in, giving her time, her talent and her money.

Westboro Baptist Church Brings Hate to My Community

Be the First to Comment!

The heinous Westboro Baptist Church is planning on coming to my neck of the woods this weekend to “protest” the death of a young soldier, not 30 minutes from where I live. He went to one of my high school’s most fervent rival schools, lived in the town my husband grew up in, and died serving our country—doing his job—at much too young an age.

Now the “God Hates Fags” church is going to go make a mockery of his memorial service.

Condemning this anti-Muslim frenzy

Inter-Faith LeadersInter-Faith LeadersOne guy, a pastor of a 50-member congregation in Florida, plans to burn copies of the Quran on the ninth anniversary of 9/11. His actions will disgrace the memory of those whom died on September 11, and as Gen. David Petraeus warned, could put American military lives in danger and empower extremists. Also, it could cause al-Qaida jackasses to attack innocent Christians. This sickening wave of Islamophobia in America could weaken the bonds of civilization.

Special Guest Horoscopes: Saffron Lilypad

The stars don't need trained professionals to read them. Fate has been moving since before humans appeared in this world and it will work its wonders after we've gone. That's why we like to invite new people to our humble blog to read the weekly horoscopes from a fresh perspective.

We've known Miss Saffron Lilypad (Saffi to her friends) for several years now. Every two weeks since April 2006 she has delivered a box of fresh produce, flowers and sometimes woodland creatures to our office from her home garden. Saffi is a certified organic professional and granola magically appears wherever she walks. We've been begging her to read the horoscopes for us for a long time now and she has only now decided to indulge us.

Dean and GOP silence

Be the First to Comment!

Howard Dean, the former Vermont governor, former chairman of the Democratic Party, pointed out yesterday, Tuesday, evening that the GOP is silent about that nut in Florida who wants to burn the Quran.  See the video.

It does seems as if GOP-Tea Party activists have issued a talking paper to GOP politicians, instructing them that being anti-Muslim bigots will get them votes, and so no GOP-Tea Partier should say or do anything to make the GOP seem less friendly to bigots.

America -- Fault and Default

Okay, last week the Gallop poll predicted that the Democrats were in for a whopping loss, with Republicans leading the Democrats in the generic congressional tracking poll by ten points. A historic high for the GOP. Yesterday in the newest poll, the GOP lead has been cut to zero, with each party tied at 46% among registered voters. But the GOP still has the enthusiasm advantage. GOP voters are more likely to vote.

Traditionally, people begin to pay attention to the mid-term elections after Labor Day, and to those folks who were ready to hand this government over to the Republican-Tea Party, America is saying: Not so fast!

If the Congress should fall to the Republican rabble and barbarians, David Axelrod, President Obama's Master of the Horse, captain-general of political offense and defense, in so many words, warns, we could all become witnesses to a dark age of extreme misery.

America you've given me millions and now I'm wealthy.

I can't spell my own thoughts.

America when will you start another oil war?

I miss building atom bombs.

America when will you be evangelical?

When will you be pro-life?

When will you raise taxes on the poor?

When will you be stupid enough for your thousands of Tea Party activists?
